Digital Phone Star (*) Codes
(*66) - Repeat Dialing
With Repeat Dialing, you can let your Digital Phone service continuously redial a busy number within your local calling area that you are trying to reach. You'll never have to redial all the numbers again!
How: Press *66 when receiving a busy signal.
- When you receive a busy signal when dialing a number within your local calling area, activate Repeat Dialing by hanging up your phone, pick up the receiver again and dial *66. Then hang up your phone again.
- Repeat Dialing will try to reach that last party called every 30 seconds for 30 minutes. When the last called party's line becomes available, your phone will ring and your call will be automatically connected to the calling party's line.
- You can continue to make and receive calls when Repeat Dialing is activated.
- To cancel Repeat Dialing, pick up your receiver, wait for dial tone, then dial *86 to deactivate this feature
(*67) - Caller ID Block
Caller ID Block is a feature that allows you to block your Caller ID information from being displayed on any outgoing calls you make from your home phone.
How: Press (*67) before you call.
- Block your identity from the Caller ID of the person you're calling.
- Included Caller ID is restored when you hang up.
(*69) - Call Return
If you can't get to the phone or miss a call, you can use Call Return (*69) to attempt to call the party back. Our Digital Phone system automatically saves the number of the last party that attempted to call your number.
How: Press (*69) after picking up the receiver.
- When you dial *69, you will hear a voice recording that provides you with the telephone number, date and time of the last caller. You will be prompted to press "1" to automatically call the last caller back.
- You may continue to make and receive calls with *69 activated. You will receive a distinctive ring when the last calling party's line becomes available.
- If the calling party's line is busy when you activate the Call Return service, press "1" and the system will continue to redial the number for 30 minutes. You will receive a distinctive ring when the line becomes available. Simply pick up the receiver, and your call will be connected.
- To deactivate Call Return, pick up the receiver and dial *89. Call Return will automatically deactivate after 30 minutes.
(*70) - Call Waiting
You're on the phone when "Beep!" you have another call. (Is it important?) With included Call Waiting ID, the identity of your second caller flashes on your Call Waiting screen.
How: Use a Caller ID-enabled phone or an external Caller ID box.
- When your phone is in use and a second call comes in, the second caller's identity appears on the screen.
- To put the first call on hold and take the second, press FLASH or quickly press the switch hook.
- To put the second call on hold and go back to the first one, press FLASH or the switch hook again.
- If you hang up on one call, the phone will immediately ring to remind you that the other caller is still holding. Just pick up the phone to connect.
- If you don't answer the second call, it will go to Voice Mail. If you don't have Voice Mail, the caller will hear the ring tone.
(*72) - Call Forwarding
Now you can forward your calls to an alternate number by using Call Forwarding.
How: Press (*72)
- Press (*72); listen for three short beeps and then a dial tone; enter a 1 plus the 10-digit number (1-518-xxx-xxxx, for example) where calls will be forwarded.
- After a stutter tone or stuttering dial tone, the system will automatically place a courtesy call to the forward-to number. If the forwarded-to party answers the courtesy call, the feature is activated.
- If at set-up time the forward-to line is busy or there is no answer to the courtesy call, the feature is not activated. You can still activate Call Forwarding by repeating the activation procedure within two minutes of the first attempt.
- You will hear an error message if the forward-to number is invalid.
- Calls will continue to forward to the chosen number until deactivated.
- If you have Voice Mail, your calls and calls that would turn into Voice Mail will continue to go to the forward to number thereby bypassing Voice Mail.
- You must remember to deactivate Call Forwarding by pressing (*73) and waiting for a stutter tone or stuttering dial tone.
(*74) - Speed Dial
Now you can call frequently dialed phone numbers using just one digit.
How: Press (*74)
- Press (*74); listen for the stutter tone and choose a digit from 2 to 9.
- Enter the 7- or 10-digit number (dialing 1 first whenever it applies) that will be speed dialed and wait for confirmation tone.
- Press the chosen digit (from 2-9) followed by the # (pound) sign and the system will speed dial the telephone number that correlates to the chosen digit.
- You can store up to eight numbers at one time.
- To change any of the stored numbers simply repeat the process with the new desired telephone number.
(*77) - Anonymous Call Reject
Allows you to block unwanted calls from callers who restrict sending their Caller ID information such as “Anonymous” callers.
How:
- Dial *77 to activate and wait for a stutter tone or stuttering dial tone.
- All unidentified calls will then be rejected.
- You must Dial *87 to deactivate this feature and wait for a stutter tone or stuttering dial tone.
Notes:Voice Mail subscribers who activate this feature along with Caller ID Block (*67) must use their Voice Mail access number, instead of their home phone number, to access the Voice Mail system from home.
(*82) - Caller ID Restore
If you have chosen to block your identity when placing calls and wish to reveal your identity for a particular call, press (*82).
How: Press (*82) before you call.
- Your identity will be shown on the Caller ID of the people you call.
- When you hang up, your identity will revert to a blocked ID.
